Is it safe to receive parcel during Covid-19
In times when social distancing and self-isolating has become part of our everyday norm and we all are trying to do our bit to #flattenthecurve, adjust to the new life style would it be working from home, picking up a new hobby or whatever it may be, it is important to keep ourselves informed from trusted sources as the situation evolves.
Is it safe to receive parcel during Covid-19?
World Health Organisation (WHO) has confirmed the likelihood of contamination through a package that has been moved, traveled, exposed to different conditions and temperatures is low.
According to a study published on New England Journal of Medicine Covid-19 can remain on cardboard for up to 24h hours depending on being affected by certain temperature, air quality and environment.
However it is no harm to take precautions that you feel are the right ones in the current situation. That could include wiping down packages with sanitizer, or placing them perhaps outdoors for a length of time. And, of course, always wash your hands as this is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of the virus.
Any measures An Post is implementing?
To mitigate against the risk of Covid-19, An Post postal delivery staff will not hand their scanner to the customer for signature. The delivery post person can sign on behalf of the customer, in their presence, for all mails and parcel items that require signature.
And last but not least I would like to assure you that all parcels leaving Valg Studio are packaged with extra care and following health and safety guidelines.
Please note I'm currently not able to post to some of countries as announced by An Post recently which include several European countries. I can definitely post within Ireland and would be glad to do so. An post will endavour to deliver all items.
